North Country is one of Antelope's original planned tracts, laid out on the southwest side of the community where the residential streets run up against the Antelope Road and Watt Avenue commercial corridors. Despite the name, it sits toward the lower, western part of town, close to the Dry Creek greenway on one side and the shopping spine on the other. Convenience is the strong suit. Groceries, big-box retail, and the everyday services along Antelope Road are the shortest trip from here of almost anywhere in town, and Watt Avenue gives a straight shot south toward Interstate 80 and the Sacramento job core. Bordering four of its neighbors, it functions as the west side's hinge. The tradeoffs are real. This is the older, more worked-in end of Antelope: upkeep varies from street to street, apartments and the arterial edge bring more traffic and noise than the interior tracts, and the nearby rail line is part of the backdrop. It is the least polished of Antelope's pockets, but also the one where you can reach a store, a bus, or the freeway ramp with the least effort.
