Neighborhood Reviews & Questions

Neighborhood Review
Key Words: Affordable Homes, Practical Grid, North City

Young Heights is a modest north-side pocket near the Del Paso Heights area, largely postwar and older single-family homes on a practical grid. The appeal is plain and honest: a freestanding home for less than the central city asks, in a low-key part of town. There is little inside the boundary beyond houses and quiet streets, so daily life runs outward to the arterials for errands, with the freeway and light rail access on the western side of North Sacramento handling the commute. The honest context is the broader north-side one: this area has carried long disinvestment, and conditions and upkeep vary from block to block. That unevenness is the fact to weigh before choosing a street here. What Young Heights offers in return is price and space, the room and the affordability that pull buyers north of the central city in the first place. It is a workaday neighborhood where the block you choose matters more than the name on the map, and where the quiet is a genuine part of what you are buying.
