Riviera East is the eastern end of this stretch, the largest of the four pockets and the one that runs hardest up against the American River on its northern boundary. That river edge is the whole point here. The Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail, the paved thirty-two-mile spine of the American River Parkway, threads the greenbelt right along the top of the neighborhood, so the water, the trees, and miles of car-free riding sit essentially at the back fence. Inland, the homes are the familiar 1960s and 70s single-story ranches on comfortable lots, with mature front-yard canopy that has had decades to fill in. The neighborhood sits between the City of Sacramento and Rancho Cordova, with US-50 along the southern side handing off the commute in either direction. What you give up is walkability. This is a car neighborhood, and daily errands mean a drive out to Folsom Boulevard or the shopping nearer Watt Avenue rather than a stroll. But few addresses in the region put the American River Parkway this close, and that access is what holds value here.
