Hazelwood is a small, quiet piece of the Arden area, set near the Mission Avenue corridor in the eastern county within the orbit of Garden of the Gods and Arden Oaks. The housing is mostly mid-century single-family on comfortable lots, well-kept without showing off, and it shares the green, settled feel of the better Arden interior pockets. Life here runs on the car. Everyday shopping sits out on the surrounding arterials, and the American River Parkway is a short drive south, close enough to fold into a weekend routine. Inside the boundary there is almost no commercial activity, which is by design: the streets stay purely residential and calm, with none of the through-traffic that busier Arden pockets absorb. That quiet is most of the draw. Hazelwood trades any sense of destination for a tidy, established home in a leafy corner of Arden-Arcade at a moderate price, with the parkway and the central-east conveniences both close at hand. It is one of the lower-key addresses in this part of the county, and the buyers who find it tend to be the ones who wanted low-key in the first place.
