Neighborhood Reviews & Questions

Neighborhood Review
Key Words: Quarry Park, Sports Fields, Power Inn Edge

Granite Regional Park takes its name from the park at its center, and that park is the reason to know the place. Built on a former granite quarry near the Power Inn and Ramona corridors in southeast Sacramento, it is a relatively modern piece of open space, with sports fields, a fishing pond, trails, and room to spread out that give this working stretch of the city a real recreation anchor. Around the green, the footprint is mostly commercial and light-industrial, tied to the Power Inn employment corridor and sitting close to Highway 50 and the light rail. There is little housing inside the boundary itself, so this reads less as a neighborhood than as a park with a job district wrapped around it. Its value is as an amenity rather than an address. The park is one of the better newer open spaces on the southeast side, drawing from College Greens, Rosemont, and the Power Inn area that surround it. As somewhere to actually live it barely registers. As somewhere the neighbors come to run, fish, and play a match, it earns its keep.
