Homes around it range from 1800s and early-1900s originals to Craftsman cottages and midcentury infill on rolling, oak-shaded streets. The Village Park and the amphitheatre give it a real civic center, and the Historic Fair Oaks Bridge drops you straight onto the American River Parkway and the bluff overlooks. That walkability is the whole draw, and it prices accordingly. The older housing stock also comes with the quirks and maintenance of homes a century old. Nothing else in Fair Oaks combines this much on foot: dinner, a trail, a park, and the river within a few blocks. The chickens are a gimmick until you live here, and then they are just neighbors.
