Kooser Reviews & Questions

Neighborhood Review
Key Words: Branham Park, Branham High, Princeton Plaza

Kooser is the south-central San Jose neighborhood that holds the landmarks most people file under Branham. Branham Park and Branham High School both sit inside it along Branham Lane, while Princeton Plaza anchors the southern corner at Blossom Hill Road and Meridian Avenue. Homes are established mid-century tracts on level valley-floor land, framed by Meridian Avenue, Blossom Hill Road and the road that shares the neighborhood's name. Inside that frame the streets are quiet and residential, with the busier traffic kept to the roads along the edges. Branham Park and the open fields beside it give most streets a place to walk the dog, throw a ball or run laps without getting in the car. For a longer outing, Almaden Lake Park is a short drive east, with a lakeside path that links up with the Los Alamitos Creek Trail. Princeton Plaza, at the southern corner, is where the neighborhood eats and does a lot of its shopping. The Cup and Saucer has been cooking homemade comfort food there for decades and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lunardi's Market, on the corner of Meridian and Branham, handles the grocery run. For coffee, Spectra Coffee in Almaden Plaza, a short drive east, is known for lattes in flavors like honey lavender and orange blossom, and House of Pho sits in the same center for a bowl of noodles afterward. Getting around is mostly by car and bus, with VTA's Blue Line at Branham station, set between the lanes of Highway 87, a short drive east. The arterials around the edges carry heavy traffic through much of the day, and the plaza itself shows its age. But between the park, the high-school campus and the schools, Kooser packs more useful amenities inside it than its low profile suggests, which makes it a quietly solid, family-oriented pick in south-central San Jose. Buyers drawn by the Branham name are often surprised to learn this is where its landmarks actually are.
